Extreme Makeover: Repurposing the Barn - The New Guest Room

October 2009:

May 10, 2010

October 2009:

May 2010

hand designed glass and gold/silver plate door knob

Wooden bread box from Sweden

Hand made ceramic soap dish

Words escape me! I cannot believe we have gotten this completed in time for our reservations. The weather put us weeks behind, and threatened us constantly, since we have had a cold, wet spring after a cold wet winter. But all of our trades came through with flying colors and the room is just about... perfect... just a couple of small details to iron out, but nothing major.

The last eight weeks have been an absolute marathon. We are tired, but happy to have this project completed... and now we can move on to landscaping and guest relations.

More to come as we get things done-- the exterior and the terrace.

Happy Monday!

Diana - Complimenti! It isn't just about perfect, it IS perfect. Every little detail is exquisite - clearly loads of thought (and work!) went into this, and boy, is it all gorgeous. Yay!!

Thank you my friends. Your words are really balsam for my soul!! I cannot believe how tired I am -- deep tired. We have had GREAT guests, including lovely Janie (Panini Girl) and her husband. We have spent literally every waking hour working! Refinishing old pieces to give them new life, touching up things, hanging curtain rods, sanding, moving heavy furniture, you name it, we did it. I am so enjoying my wine this evening!

Now if this volcano would cooperate, our guests will be coming in tomorrow evening from the States and Paris. Tonight we have off! A well deserved mini break!

Thank you all again!

Thank you for your kind kind words my dear. I am so happy you are toasting me with a Barbera. I have this great sense of relief and am just trying to hang on and ensure that it is real. Thanks for your love and support over the last TWO YEARS!!!

Happy you are ready for the "guest relations" and those special breakfasts and special EVERYTHING that you and Micha (and MAX!) do!

You are a rock star. Or crazy. Maybe both! Can't wait to see the results first hand. Still can't believe you got this done in less than 5 years. ;)

Diana, I will follow the adventures of your makeover, I have liked so much the place where you live and I´m interested in how your beautiful place looks finally.
So nice to have found your beautiful blog.
We have been through a makeover of hour home in the Los Andes mountains, and what was supposed to take 5 months, finally took 17 months!!!!
